The town of Jeseník, with a population of just under 11,000, decided in 2015 to implement an energy-saving project using the EPC method. For the town, this meant an investment of almost CZK 11 million to upgrade heating, lighting and water savers in a total of seven buildings, which has saved almost CZK 1.7 million in electricity, heat and water costs every year since 2016. The company's heating and cooling costs have increased by CZK 7.7 million. This amount of savings is contractually guaranteed by Jeseník for 10 years from the provider, which is ENESA from ČEZ ESCO. If they save less in a given year, the difference will be paid by the project provider. Since the investment is repaid from the guaranteed savings, they did not need any upfront investment and they are assured that they will comfortably repay everything. Jesník is a spa town surrounded by beautiful nature, so another benefit is that the savings are equivalent to 270 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year.
